After twenty years in the real estate development industry and accessibility consulting, Dr. McDonald earned the PhD from the University of Connecticut. His dissertation topic was, "Knowledge Entrepreneurship: Linking Organizational Learning and Innovation." Joining Texas Tech University in 2001, Dr. McDonald is now an associate professor and the United Supermarkets Professor of Marketing. His research interests include innovation, organizational learning, sustainable business practices, branding, nonprofits, macromarketing, and the scholarship of teaching and learning.
Dr. McDonald currently teaches a course in Personal Selling, and has taught courses in Sales Management, Business-to-Business Marketing (MBA), Introduction to Marketing, and Marketing Foundations (MBA). At Texas Tech, he has received the President's Excellence in Teaching Award (2005) and the Chancellor's Council Distinguished Teaching Award (2007). The Marketing Management Association awarded Professor McDonald the Excellence in Teaching Award in 2007.
Dr. McDonald is Vice President for Publications and chairs the Publication Council of the Marketing Management Association, which is responsible for publishing the Marketing Management Journal and the Journal for Advancement of Marketing Education. He has served as a reviewer for a number of prestigious academic journals including the Journal of World Business, the Journal of Business Research, the Journal of Marketing Theory & Practice, Marketing Education Review, the Journal of Management Inquiry, and Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly. For the past several years, Professor McDonald has served as advisor or co-advisor of the Tech Marketing Association, a very active student organization with more than 300 members. |
