Internships

 

Internships for Credit

Students may register for credit for internships if and only if several requirements are met.

 

bulletInternships must be FULL TIME.

            That means you CANNOT take classes at the same time as the internship.

 

bulletInternships must be PAID at a fair wage.

            Solely at the discretion of the supervising faculty, students may get credit for an unpaid internship, if it is with a nonprofit organization.

            Sports teams, advertising agencies, and media outlets (TV/Radio) are NOT nonprofit organizations.

 

bulletInternships must last a minimum of ten consecutive weeks.  Twelve to thirteen weeks is preferred.

 

bulletInternships are intended to be learning experiences, so the job description must satisfy this goal.  The internship must be approved by the supervising faculty member.

 

bulletThe internship must be approved prior to the semester in which the student is enrolled in the internship for credit.

 

bulletThe student must have completed MKT 3350 and at least one other marketing class, and have received a grade of C or better in each class.

 

bulletThe student must be in good academic standing and have a grade point average of 2.85.

 

bulletThe internship cannot be taken for credit during the student's last semester.
