Internships for Credit
Students may register for credit for internships if and only if several requirements are met.
Internships must be FULL TIME.
That means you CANNOT take classes at the same time as the internship.
Internships must be PAID at a fair wage.
Solely at the discretion of the supervising faculty, students may get credit for an unpaid internship, if it is with a nonprofit organization.
Sports teams, advertising agencies, and media outlets (TV/Radio) are NOT nonprofit organizations.
Internships must last a minimum of ten consecutive weeks. Twelve to thirteen weeks is preferred.
Internships are intended to be learning experiences, so the job description must satisfy this goal. The internship must be approved by the supervising faculty member.
The internship must be approved prior to the semester in which the student is enrolled in the internship for credit.
The student must have completed MKT 3350 and at least one other marketing class, and have received a grade of C or better in each class.
The student must be in good academic standing and have a grade point average of 2.85.
The internship cannot be taken for credit during the student's last semester.
